Employment Insurance (EI)- Investigations
For your information on a random basis school districts are sent a request for earnings information to varify earning of EI claimants.Claimants can reduce the chance of an EI investigation by remembering that all earning must be reported to EI. For support staff your weekly earnings include hours or work, holiday pay paid on every cheque; casual employee stat holiday pay paid on every cheque (4.2% of earnings); $0.75 per hour in lieu of benefits per Article 9:(c); and regular employee stats (i.e. Christmas, Boxing day, and New Years day). For teachers: TOCs must report benefit pay as earnings, teachers on temporary assignments must report SIP pay. Have questions? Contact payroll.
