Effective Behavioural Support & Kiwanis Terrific Kids Character Education Program
EBS is more than a discipline strategy. Its basic philosophy is that all students need to learn social skills and it is the school's responsibility to teach them in easily understood ways.
The EBS approach involves developing a 'grid' describing expected behaviours. Then all students are taught the expectations in their classrooms. The second step is to reward students who are complying and/or modeling appropriate behaviour.
Specific strategies are implemented to help students learn the expected behaviours. The EBS approach is very popular all across North America. If you want to learn more, click on the sites below.

Kiwanis Terrific Kids program focuses on fostering positive character virtues and social responsibility in students through monthly themes focusing on the acronym "TERRIFIC"
T=Thoughful     E=Enthusiastic     R= Respectful        R= Responsible  I = Inclusive        F= Friendly                I = Inquistive          C= Capable
Monthly assemblies focus on the teaching/modeling/learning of the virture through interactive discussions/activities with Ms.McCall. Teachers then designate a monthly winner from each class which are announced at our monthly recognition assemblies.
Term Awards ceremonies occur with Kiwanis representatives sharing Terrific Kids plaques to virtue winners. Terrific Kids also recieve a bumper sticker for their family car, their photo in the newspaper, and opportunities to participate in local parades.
Thank you to the Oliver Kiwanis Club for sponsoring this valuable "people-building" program!
